LBL-10 Leadership Quick Check
Ten statements. Three minutes. No flattery.
One statement for each of the ten LBL-10 competencies. There is nothing to study.
What you get
You rate each of the ten statements from 1 to 5, Almost Never to Consistently. Your total lands between 10 and 50, in one of five levels.
Then it names your highest competency, your lowest, and one thing to try this week.
The five levels are the full instrument's bands divided by ten. Nothing was scaled to make anybody's number look better.
No email address. Your result is on the screen the second you finish, and your answers are saved without your name. There's a box for my letter under it. Walk right past it.
What it will not do
It won't compare you to anybody. No percentile, no ranking, no certificate. I have no group to measure you against, so a number like that would be one I made up.
It only knows what you type. Answer the way you behaved last Tuesday, not on your best day in 2019. Answer as the leader you wish you were and you get back a description of somebody who doesn't exist.
A compass, not a map
One statement per competency points you in a direction. It can't draw the map. Three minutes buys a direction.
The ten competencies
One statement each, in this order. The name sits above it while you answer.
- Lead Yourself First
- Build Trust
- Communicate with Purpose
- Bridge Organizational Gaps
- Lead Change
- Build High-Reliability Teams
- Coach Future Leaders
- Make Better Decisions
- Create Accountability
- Leave a Leadership Legacy
The full LBL-10 assessment is 100 statements, ten per competency, and it is part of the LBL-10 workshop.
Where it comes from
I wrote a book called Leadership Between the Lines. The LBL-10 framework came out of it. Ten things I have watched decide whether people follow you or just work near you.
I still work on a plant floor. That's where these ten came from. Not a study. A shift.
It's for anyone who runs a team, whether or not the title says so. It's not for anyone who wants a line for a bio. It won't get you one.
The longer version of who I am sits on the about page. The ten statements are right here.
